The international break is underway and many of Liverpool's stars will not be able to dwell on FA Cup heartbreak vs Manchester United as they represent their nations this week.

For Jurgen Klopp, he will hope his players come back injury free and others revitalised as the Reds prepare to challenge for the Premier League title and Europa League glory. Liverpool sit second in the league, behind rivals Arsenal on goal difference despite suffering a plethora of injury issues in recent weeks.

The German coach will be keen to ensure he can get star Mo Salah up to speed with the Egyptian winger spared from a call-up on this occasion. The 31-year-old has started Liverpool's previous two matches after missing much of 2024.

The Merseyside team do have some club football to retain their attention with a Liverpool Legends side to take on Ajax this weekend. With all that said, Mirror Football takes a look at the latest news around Anfield.

Injury boost

Liverpool might be left sweating over Ibrahima Konate making his return away from Anfield, but the French defender featured in France training ahead of fixtures against Germany and Chile. The defender joined Arsenal star William Saliba, completing drills on Tuesday morning.

Konate missed the Reds' defeat to Manchester United this past weekend to record a fourth game out after a picking up a thigh issues in Liverpool's Europa League first leg versus Sparta Prague. Klopp will hope he is fully fit upon his return.

Alexander-Arnold England dream

Trent Alexander-Arnold has reaffirmed is desire to play for England and to lift trophies on the international stage. Liverpool's creative full-back has missed out on the latest Three Lions squad due to injury but will hope to be included in the EURO 2024 squad come the summer.

"When I was younger, I dreamt of being able to play for my country, to win trophies for my country, to be a part of England teams that win titles," said the Reds star. "I’ve still got those ambitions, and every time I’m able to wear the shirt, words don’t really describe it.”

Veiga 'confirms' transfer interest

Former Liverpool midfield target Gabri Veiga appears to have confirmed that he made the switch to Al-Ahli despite drawing interest from the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea in the summer.

In an interview with AS, Veiga discussed his move, admitting it was it least in part for financial reasons. The former Celta Vigo star at 21 fits a different profile to most of the elder statesmen who made their way to the Saudi Pro League last summer.

“The truth is that I leave all that in the hands of my representatives. I have full confidence in them,” he said.

“I was focused on finishing a dream season, which in the end got complicated, without being aware of any kind of rumour. Perhaps at some point there was a strong interest, but later on in the lists another type of profile gains more strength.

“But I can tell you that in August I was faced with a situation and I took the decision I thought was the right one. I’m 100% sure that it was the right one.”
