King's Cross St Pancras station was this morning evacuated as passengers took to social media to say they were left frightened after suddenly being ordered off trains.
The decision came amid suggestions of 'overcrowding' as passengers on the Tube called the situation 'scary' after their journeys were abruptly halted. Travellers recorded videos of the commuters being forced to exit the station with the worrying warning being played loudly over the tannoy.
TfL has confirmed the closure is in place to 'stop overcrowding'. Matthew Ruddle posted a video of passengers being directed out of the station to an alarm overhead. He said: "FYI for anyone London commuting, Kings Cross St. Pancras Train and Tube stations have just been evacuated.

Some time later, the station was operational again but the incident was described as 'scary'"Due to a reported emergency, would all passengers leave the station immediately please." A TFL spokesperson told the Mirror: "There was a train fault at another station nearby, and that caused the overcrowding. The situation was resolved after about ten minutes. The northern line has now reopened, but there are severe delays."

A Network Rail spokesperson said: "King’s Cross station is made up of a diverse and multicultural workforce and at times of religious significance, messages such as these are displayed to celebrate the station’s diversity and inclusivity,” they said.
"If significant disruption occurs on the network, the boards are changed to display relevant passenger information to help passengers complete their journeys.
"Throughout the year, messaging at the station also celebrates festivals from other religions including Easter, Christmas, Passover and Diwali to mark the beliefs of our colleagues and passengers."
