Chase Bank's online services crashed on Wednesday afternoon, leaving thousands of customers unable to access their accounts or finances.

The outage, which started just after 1.30pm EDT, affected around 7,000 customers who reported issues with the bank's mobile and web portals. Those already logged in also experienced errors when trying to access their personal information.

By 3.30pm, the problems were still unresolved, leading to a wave of customer complaints on Downdetector.com and other platforms. According to Downdetector.com, about 63% of users had trouble logging into the mobile app, while another 25% struggled with the web portal.

Customers voiced their frustrations on various platforms. "Down in Evanston, IL. Just signs me right out when attempting to view accounts," wrote user Peter K.

"not working in texas across mobile and web," added Karson Bryant. Another user, Kuma Style, said they could log in but couldn't access their statements.

Multiple customers reported services blackouts across the nation, some even suggesting the bank suffered a cyber attack. However, these claims are yet to be substantiated.

Infuriated X user Warren Pattison took to social media to share his disappointment with Chase's online banking system. "@chase - app keeps bumping me out, website showing transactions/card verification features are down. What's going on?" he posted.

On Black Friday weekend, which is one of the busiest periods for financial dealings, Chase experienced a total blackout. This left countless customers unable to access their funds and miss out on the mega deals expected on 2023's Black Friday offers.

According to data from Downdetector.com, there was an 80% increase in complaints regarding issues using Chase credit or debit cards. Visa also experienced a similar jump in complaints.

Adding woes to the customers, just weeks before, around early November, a system failure at the bank resulted in thousands of Americans not receiving their salaries when Chase's direct deposit went down. Similar crises were faced by customers of Bank of America and U.S. Bank as well.

It took several hours for the financial institution to figure out the issue and resolve it, with some not receiving their pay until days later, leaving their bills and other fiscal responsibilities hanging in the balance.

In both outages in November, several customers vented their frustrations with the finance giants, which didn't communicate the outages with customers. That's a similar issue many are reporting with Wednesday's outage.

Chase's X pages remain empty, with no communication from the company about the most recent outage save for the message displayed on Downdetector.com, given to the site by the company.

Calling the bank's US customer service number yields the following message, "We’re working to restore some service across chase.com, Chase Mobile and the automated system. Our service specialists also have limited access to account information at this time. Thank you for your patience as we work to resolve this as quickly as possible."

A spokesperson for Chase Bank told TheMirror.com about the outage: "We’re restoring full service to chase.com and the Chase Mobile app after an internal issue earlier this afternoon. It takes a little time to make all services available to all customers."
