Caleb Williams has got NFL fans buzzing after he threw a whopping 70-yard pass during his pro day workout.

At USC's pro day on Wednesday, Williams showed off his skills, especially on deep routes, to demonstrate his arm strength. As the expected No. 1 pick in the upcoming draft, the 22 year old former Heisman winner threw passes to various receivers while Keenan Allen, a new Chicago Bears wide receiver and likely future teammate, watched from the sidelines wearing team gear.

The Bears have the top pick in the NFL Draft and recently traded their former first-round pick, Justin Fields, in the same position. It seems like Williams is the likely choice for the Bears.

A video quickly circulated online showing Williams during his anticipated session. In it, he carried out a play-action rollout, and delivered a perfect spiral 70 yards down the middle of the field. The pass stayed in the air for nearly six seconds before landing smoothly in the receiver's hands for a touchdown.

This clip sparked excitement among football fans, players, and media alike, leading to online chats about his arm strength and comparisons to Fields' previous pro day. It also led to different opinions on how well he will perform at the pro level with a defence present.

One fan commented: "He's definitely got the golden arm in this year's draft." However, an unimpressed Bears fan replied: "65-yard dime. It's impressive but nothing new, and it doesn't translate into NFL success. What ill is all the non-scripted stuff that won't be on display on the field and that the Bears are trying to gauge."

This wasn't the only post pointing out that there have been similar videos from past prospects, including Fields. But for some fans, they saw enough proof for the Bears to pick Williams first in the draft. Some even started predicting how the quarterback might do in future games against Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers.

The general consensus, though, seems to be one of cautious optimism - and analysts remain sceptical about the quarterback's skills and his chances of doing well in the NFL.

On a recent episode of his show, Pat McAfee said that Williams' team has been actively promoting him to networks like ESPN, making sure he stays in the draft discussions even though he chose not to throw during the combine. When asked why he didn't throw, Williams said that while he's not afraid to compete against the best, he always tries to make decisions that are best for his family.

ESPN football expert Dan Orlovsky faced criticism on the internet after he described Williams's pro day as not very exciting. He commented, "It was an underwhelming performance throwing the football, but it was geared towards the naysayers."

He added, "He wanted to kind of almost have a governor on him and not have much flash because his tape is so flashy," and also mentioned, "I did like the fact that Louis (Riddick) said watching how he walked around and handled himself was impressive."
