She wrote her treatment will be "ongoing and will be for a few more months" and that she is "not out of the woods yet".

Kate added: "I am learning how to be patient, especially with uncertainty. Taking each day as it comes, listening to my body, and allowing myself to take this much needed time to heal."

She also thanked the public, saying: “Thank you so much for your continued understanding, and to all of you who have so bravely shared your stories with me.”

Kate did not attend the Colonel's Review on June 8, but in a letter penned to the Irish Guards she revealed: "I do hope that I am able to represent you all once again very soon"

On April 29, Wills and Kate marked their 13th anniversary by releasing unseen wedding photos.

The Princess of Wales announced on March 22, 2024 that she had been diagnosed with cancer and revealed she is undergoing preventative chemotherapy treatment after post-operation tests came back positive.

She underwent major abdominal surgery in London in January which was thought to be non-cancerous at the time.

Kate said: "The surgery was successful. However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present.”The statement did not confirm what type of cancer the Princess has.

Before her announcement, Kate had been absent from duty since her surgery and had rarely been seen in public.

"She was looking forward to a change of scene and will be able to take it easy in Norfolk while the children let off steam with William."

“The surgery was successful and it is expected that she will remain in hospital for ten to 14 days, before returning home to continue her recovery."

It was reported that Prince William was by his wife's side before and after her operation. The Prince of Wales then visited the London clinic on January 18, 2024, as Kate recovered from her procedure.

A palace spokesperson said after she left hospital: “The Princess of Wales has returned home to Windsor to continue her recovery from surgery. She is making good progress.

“The Prince and Princess wish to say a huge thank you to the entire team at The London Clinic, especially the dedicated nursing staff, for the care they have provided.

“The Wales family continues to be grateful for the well wishes they have received from around the world.”

On January 16, 2024, Kate was admitted to London Clinic for planned abdominal surgery.

What has Kate said about her diagnosis?

The Princess of Wales said her diagnosis came as a huge shock, which she and Prince William had been processing privately for the sake of their young family.

She said it had taken time for them to explain her diagnosis to George, Charlotte and Louis.

She said: “As I have said to them, I am well and I'm getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal in my mind, body and spirit.”

She also thanked everyone for their understanding while she recovered from surgery.
