They've only been around for 41 years - but Polly Pocket have already become a sought-after 'vintage' item to collectors. Designed by Chris Wiggs for his daughter Kate in 1983, a Polly Pocket is a toy line of dolls and accessories all within a "pocket-sized world".
But it wasn't until they were licensed by Bluebird Toy in 1989 that the compact playset started appearing in stores, with an estimated 75 per cent of girls in the UK owning a Polly Pocket just five years later. Mattel acquired Polly Pocket in 1998 and redesigned new dolls with a "more lifelike appearance".
Now, it seems they're just as popular with collectors on eBay, with 'vintage' Polly Pockets now selling for £4,800. So, if you ever owned a Polly Pocket, and don't mind parting with it, you could gain a small fortune.

A mint-condition 1990s Beauty Case created by Bluebird Toys is now being sold for £4,800 on eBay. It includes "lipstick, perfume, eyeshadow, rouge and powder." The seller says: "This is an extremely rare piece from the Bluebird UK and Mattel original toy series in 1990.
"A Beauty Case and a multi-decked toy world with tiny dolls included. The authentic magic and charm of the original Polly Pocket that we all loved. Due to its nature: a Beauty case/toy not many have been left unopened!
"Note: Do not confuse the Beauty Case with the Pull-out Playhouse! This piece is different. The condition is great as you can see in the images, and it will be shipped with all the care and respect it deserves. It is unopened, as someone would find it new at a store back in the 90s." However, this isn't the only Beauty Case being sold at a high price, as another seller has listed theirs for £2,572.
1990s Funtime Clock
A "rare" Polly Pocket Funtime Clock in the pink glitter variation is being sold for £1,500 on eBay due to its mint-in-box condition. The description reads: "New and sealed Polly Pocket Funtime Clock 1994. A gleaming addition to your bedroom, this glittering battery-operated clock will also give you hours of fun. This item is new and unopened, the box shows some signs of wear but is otherwise in fantastic condition considering its age! "
Tiny is Mighty Theme Park Backpack
A pre-loved Polly Pocket set is up for grabs for £1,499 despite having "some marks and wear". The mini theme park set includes four dolls - one in a rollercoaster seat - and is all contained in Polly Pocket's iconic love heart world.
Starbright Dinner Party
A 'never opened' Polly Pocket Starbright Dinner Party set is being sold for £1,000 on eBay. The seller claims to have bought it from Hamleys, in London, in 1994. The light-up set includes Polly and two friends and a compact world with a kitchen, living room, bathroom, and dressing room.

A 'limited edition' 1993 Polly Pocket Pool Party Playset is being sold for £692.69. It has never been opened but does have some edge wear, scuffing, and bending on the box. The seller says: "Polly and her friends, Alice, Lily, and Tiny Tina, are on their summer vacation at the most fun-filled hotel. Two waiters bring them lots of delicious food and drinks. You'll have so much fun playing with them at the pool party and in the pretty hotel rooms.

A tiny Polly Pocket Show Time Locket is being sold for £849 in its original packaging. The toy could fit in the palm of your hand and contains a living room set up with one Polly with blonde hair wearing a pink gown.
