TWO cavalry horses injured when they bolted six miles through London are expected to recover, it emerged last night.

A white steed called Vida was left smeared in blood and stablemate Quaker seriously hurt on Wednesday.

Quaker is still being kept under observation at an equine hospital.

But defence sources said that after surgery neither was believed to have life-threatening wounds.

However vets did warn there was still a threat of shock or infection.

The animals from Hyde Park Barracks smashed into a people carrier, a cab and a double-decker after being spooked when builders dropped concrete down a rubbish chute in Belgravia on Wednesday.

Two others, named Tennyson and Trojan, also fled.

The riders from the Life Guards were thrown and a cyclist was knocked off his bike on Fleet Street.

All are recovering.

The final two horses were rounded up in Limehouse, East London.

An Army tweet said: “All our horses receive highest standards of care.”
