Blake Lively apologises after she's slammed over 'insensitive' Kate post

Blake Lively has issued a statement and taken down a social media post, which seemingly made fun of Kate Middleton, following the Princess of Wales revealing she has cancer.

Taking to her Instagram Story, Blake said: "I'm sure no one cares today but I feel like I have to acknowledge this. I made a silly post around the 'photoshop fails' frenzy, and oh man, that post has me mortified today. I'm sorry. Sending love and well wishes to all, always."

The Hollywood actress and wife of Ryan Reynolds jumped on the bandwagon of other celebrities poking fun at Kate Middleton keeping out of the public eye in recent times, as conspiracy theories ran wild on the internet.

The rumour-mill particularly went into overdrive when the Palace shared a picture of Kate and her children for Mother's Day but there were a number of Photoshop errors, which led to many fans asking if it was indeed a real picture.

Blake, 36, had shared a post on Instagram not long after the photo furore, which many social networkers believed was poking fun at the senior royal.

And on Friday, following the harrowing news that Kate has cancer, many took to Blake's Instagram post to call out the actress for what some deemed as an insensitive post.

Of course Blake couldn't have known what was wrong with the Princess of Wales, but social media users still thought she should be called out for being "insensitive" for making a joke ahead of the news being revealed.

Taking to the comments section of the post, one social networker said: "You should be ashamed of yourself. She has cancer." While another continued: "Better feel bad now for making fun after that announcement from the Palace."

A third remarked: "Apologise to Kate Middleton... your words were disgusting... how would you like to be her shows right now?"

Blake's original post saw her promoting her Betty Booze brand and four new products in the range. Seemingly poking fun at the rumours about Kate, Blake added at the end of the caption: "Now you know why I've been MIA."

Blake wasn't the only celebrity to seemingly poke fun at the situation though, Kim Kardashian also shared a post last week, which saw her name Kate in her caption.

Sharing a carousel of pictures, which saw her posing up a storm, Kim joked in the caption: "On my way to find Kate." Perhaps surprisingly, Kim's post hasn't been inundated with comments yet.
