Gary Goldsmith didn't hold back in a interview about his niece, Kate Middleton, which was recorded before the princess revealed her cancer diagnosis.

In a heartbreaking video released on Friday, mum-of-three and future queen of England Kate, 42, announced she has been diagnosed with cancer and is now in the early stages of undergoing preventative chemotherapy. Her uncle Gary, 58, who pulled out of the Celebrity Big Brother final on Friday following the news, has always spoken with pride about his sister Carole's famous daughter and apologised on X for the timing of his interview.

"As many will have seen, I am featured in Saturday's "Times Magazine". This interview and shoot was done over a week ago and went to print before I was aware of the sad news regarding my niece Kate," he apolgoised, adding: "My thoughts and prayers are with Kate and the wider family at this difficult time and deeply upset at the timing of this article."

But, as the world is left stunned from Kate's video after weeks of wild speculation regarding the future Queen, Uncle Gary dropped some huge bombshells in his ill-timed, tell-all chat. From accusations about Kate and William's marriage to their fallout with Prince Harry and Meghan, here's a look at what he said...

Kate and William's 'unhappy' marriage

Gary insists he never asked to be in the spotlight, but instead found fame thrust upon him when his niece - who he refers to as 'my Kate' married William. Recalling the first time he invited the future King and Queen to his sprawling home, known as Maison de Bang Bang, he admits in The Times he called the heir to the throne a a "f***er" when William broke one of his prized ornaments.

It was at this time, Gary claims, the young couple were "madly in love". However, in his latest interview he makes awkward claims that things have changed given a number of pressures.

Speaking about life behind closed doors in Kensington Palace, he claims: "William, Harry and Kate were such a happy little trio and it got totally ruined. With all that going on — and there is other stuff going on that is not in the public domain — are they at their absolute happiest? No. Their kids bring them a lot of joy, but no.”

Feud with Meghan

Multi-millionaire Gary has never claimed to be a fan of Suits star, Meghan - or her husband Harry. The Sussexes, who were once part of Kate and William's inner circle, sent shockwaves through the world when they announced they were ditching their royal roles for a life in LA.

Kate and Meghan are not said to be close after the actress accused the future Queen of making her cry in the lead up to her wedding and Gary claims relations between the two families are still 'frosty' as he laid into "Laughing Girl", Meghan.

Referencing the drama surrounded Meghan's Oprah interview in which she claimed two members of the royal family had expressed "concerns" over the colour Archie's skin - one of whom was reported to be Kate- he said: “Me and Carole grew up in a community as diverse as a Woolies pick’n’mix counter. All the cultures you can think of. The idea that Laughing Girl says Kate is racist makes me furious. Kate knows her family’s roots and is proud of them. I’m sorry, but Laughing Girl is not good people.”

He went on of Harry: "I think he’ll be back but only if he says sorry. He upset his nan and that is unforgivable. But let’s face it, Laughing Girl isn’t going to be around for ever, is she? I think she’s fickle. And I think she’s so bad for Harry and for our country.”

Prince Andrew

Ahead of Prince Andrew’s disastrous Newsnight dramatisation with Emily Maitlis, Scoop, on Netlfix next month, Gary went on to give his thoughts on the royal, who was accused of sexually assaulted Virginia Giuffre when she was 17 - which he has denied.

The father-of-two has kept somewhat of a low profile since settling the civil sexual assault case brought against him, but Kate's uncle thinks he's got no place in the royal family.

Speaking about the ex-husband of Sarah 'Fergie' Ferguson, he says Andrew is the uncle 'no one would want.' He also joked that he has 'more chance' of making it to the Palace balcony than Andrew does.
