Wetherspoons is a staple of British culture - and while we're focused on our booze, you may not realise it but there's a reason behind the utterly garish carpets.
Who doesn't love a Wetherspoons with the cheap and cheerful and food, it's somewhere every Brit will be all too familiar with. While the decor can be questionable and the carpets are renowned for being loud, apparently there is a reason for it.
With over 900 Wetherspoons pubs across the UK, it may not be known, but every pub has a different and personalised carpet chosen speciffically for each one according to Wetherspoons' head of property development and acquisitions Jon Randall.
Jon previously shared: "We place particular emphasis on the design of our new pubs, investing heavily in every aspect, as well as in the refurbishment of our older premises. With more than 900 pubs, that is a lot of carpet. All of our new pub carpets are individually designed, some with details to reflect aspects of the building's history or local area." As reported by The Express.
Now one man has decided to take it upon himself to see for himself and create an "online" catalogue to share the different carpet designs in each pub. Kit Caless from London has aptly named the website "Wetherspoons Carpets", where he displays each unique pattern in an "appreciation" to the carpets.

Kit said: "My goal is to visit all the Wetherspoon's and take a photo of them; and maybe buy a swift half for my troubles. Or at least enlist some help in this mammoth task."
He shared how he was "amazed to learn that each one has a totally unique carpet" and after some persuasion from his daughters, has now documented all of the different carpets. While Kit has visited his fair share of different pubs on the hunt for the unique carpets, he's also had some help from fans who share their carpet findings with him and asked them to send in their submissions to his website.
While Kit shared he has "no connection at all with J D Wetherspoon" he added "it's just a bit of fun for myself and my family".
Even though the garish carpets are loud, they're better than a sticky pub floor. However they don't come cheap. It's reported that the carpets cost an eyewatering £20,000 to £30,000 a pop. This is because they're made by luxury carpet manufacturer Axminster Carpets on a traditional loom.
Next time you're in your local Wetherspoons, take a moment to look at the carpet and see what design it has, and you could even share it to Kit's catalogue of carpets.
