Aldi, Asda and Sainsbury's shoppers warned not to eat food items

Asda, Aldi and Sainsbury's have all recalled some food products off their shelves, due to them posing a health risk.

According to the Food Standards Agency (FSA), some products may not be safe to eat. However, if you have purchased any of the below items, you will recieve a full refund.

Aldi

Signature Flatbreads UK has recalled its Village Bakery tortilla wraps because there may be metal in them. The Food Standards Agency believes they may have been tampered with.

If you bought these wraps, you can take them back to Aldi for a full refund. If you want to ask Aldi anything, you can call them for free on 0800 042 0800 or go to help.aldi.co.uk.

The wraps that are being recalled are called Village Bakery 8 Tortilla Wraps White. They come in a pack with 8 wraps that weigh 62g each. All the packs with a 'best before' date up to and including April 29, 2024, are being recalled.

The Food Standards Agency website says: "Signature Flatbreads UK is taking the precautionary step of recalling Village Bakery 8 Tortilla Wraps White because of a possible presence of metal, as the product may have been tampered with. The possible presence of metal makes this product unsafe to eat.

"This is an isolated incident and is not linked to other product recall information notices, (PRINs) recently published for metal contamination. No other Aldi or Signature Flatbreads UK products are affected." It was further noted on its website that Signature Flatbreads UK is "working with the relevant food and police agencies to investigate the cause of the contamination".

Asda

A precautionary recall has been put in place for Taj Chopped Spinach 450g because there might be tiny pieces of metal in it, according to the Daily Record. If you have bought Taj Chopped Spinach 450g with a best before date of January 2026, you can get it refunded if you bring it back to the store.

Asda said: "We are very sorry for any inconvenience caused. If you would like any further information, please contact: Asda Customer Relations 0800 952 0101."

Sainsbury's

The FSA said Sainsbury's is recalling its "by Sainsbury's Flaked Almonds" because they may have salmonella - a germ that can make people very sick. Common symptoms include a fever, diarrhoea and stomach cramps.

Sainsbury's said: "As a precautionary measure, Sainsbury's is recalling the above By Sainsbury's Flaked Almonds 200g, as they may contain Salmonella, that may cause illness if consumed. If you have bought one of the affected batches of this product, we advise you not to consume it.

"For a full refund please return the product to your local Sainsbury's store. For further details or if you have any questions, then please visit our website Sainsburys.co.uk/help or contact our Careline on 0800 028 8303. No other products are affected by this recall. Sainsbury's would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused."
