Rebel Wilson has delighted fans after teasing that Pitch Perfect 4 is in the works - seven years after the third film.
The Australian actress, 44, revealed the news with fans at the London Palladium on Monday evening as she spoke of her love of the film franchise, which saw her first shoot to stardom as Fat Amy in 2012 alongside the likes of Anna Kendrick, Brittany Snow and Anna Camp. It came just a year after Rebel starred in Bridesmaids as Matt Lucas' bizarre on-screen sister.
Quizzed on whether she'd like the film to be made, she said: "I would love Pitch Perfect to be made. I believe they have a script in development." She revealed that they'd had "conversations" about the film and added: "I think someone should get married, maybe me and Bumper (Adam DeVine)."
Speaking about her memoir, Rebel Rising, she also addressed her Bridesmaids role - claiming that she had originally auditioned for another role but that Melissa McCarthy was awarded the part because she was friends with film bosses. Instead, another role was created for her as Matt's sister.
"So I actually auditioned for the Melissa McCarthy role and they were always going to give it to Melissa because she was their friend," she said. While she said that she was grateful for being given a part in the movie, she admitted she was left disappointed and feeling like she had a proper role.
Rebel Wilson cuddles baby in sweet post months after welcoming her via surrogate"So I come in and start improvising and it went on for and hour," she said of the audition. "You know an audition is good when it goes in for an hour… so I got the call and they said ‘You got the part!’ And I went, ‘What, the role?!’ And they went ‘Not that role. You really look like Matt Lucas. He’s this British comedian and he’s already been cast in the film so we’re just going to add you in as his sister.’ So I’m like, ‘Alright!’ I was like, I guess it’s ok but I really wanted the Melissa McCarthy role… they were like ‘You’ve been cast in a Hollywood film’ and I was like ‘Yeah, but I don’t really have a role.’"
Her memoir has seen her share a number of intimate and shocking details about her life - from losing her virginity at 35 to claiming a royal invited her to an orgy. Naming the actor and comedian she lost her virginity to as Mickey Gooch Jr, she reveals in her book that one of the reasons she waited to have sex was because she felt that "as a big girl, no one would ever truly find me sexually attractive".
