Michael Jackson’s children looked “uncomfortable” in a “painful” red carpet appearance in London, a body language expert has claimed.

Prince, 27, Paris, 25, and Blanket, 22, surprised fans as they attended the press night of MJ: The Musical at the Prince Edward Theatre on Wednesday. The musical focuses on the hits of the King of Pop, and Michael’s three children joined forces to honour their late father, who died in June 2009 at the age of 50. Prince and Blanket - who was born Bigi Jackson - looked dapper in smart suits for the red carpet, while Paris looked gorgeous in a rust-coloured gown.

However, the siblings barely cracked a smile while posing for photographers as they arrived at the premiere, and body language expert Judi James told The Mirror she believes the trio were deeply uncomfortable with being in the spotlight. “This is a very unusual red-carpet appearance from Michael Jackson’s three children, mainly because only one of them appears to be attempting the customary celebrity smile,” she began.

“All three look uncomfortable with the camera attention. Paris looks elegant but undeniably dour here, gazing either direct at the camera or into the distance with an expression that suggests wistful unhappiness. Her hands are clasped in front of her torso in a barrier gesture and her legs are crossed at the ankle, suggesting she might not enjoy being in the spotlight,” Judi explained. “Blanket sends out a similar vibe here. His expression is a little more relaxed but also with a much more introvert look and his hands are also clasped in front of his torso which, again, suggested a wariness of the spotlight.”

While seeing the Thriller hitmaker’s children uniting on the red carpet in honour of their father may have brought joy to his diehard fans, it could have a lasting impact on the siblings, who were kept out of the limelight while their father was alive. “What might be a good memory for the fans might be a more painful one for Jackson’s bereaved children,” Judi sadly added.

“Prince seems to have the most painful body language behaviour here as he is trying very hard to look more upbeat, fun and carefree. He probably looks the most awkward here though, with his politely forced-looking smile and his thumbs hooked into his trouser pockets in an attempt to look more relaxed than his very tense-looking siblings,” she shared.

Paris, Prince and Blanket are currently involved in a legal battle with their paternal grandmother Katherine Jackson over the pop star’s estate. Earlier this month, Blanket filed to block the 93-year-old from using money from Michael’s estate to fund her ongoing legal battle against the executors in an ongoing dispute over the sale of the Smooth Criminal hitmaker’s back catalogue to Sony.
