THE Royal Family’s favourite brewer reigned over its rivals by winning the most medals at the “Beer Oscars”.

And Windsor & Eton Brewery, which delivers by horse and cart, showed the pair have good taste as it got the biggest haul of any beermaker in the world at an international awards bash.

Prince Philip had put it on the map when it was revealed he supped a nightly bottle of the ale whenever he was in Windsor.

The late Duke’s favourite brew ended up being Windsor Knot — made to celebrate Wills and Kate’s wedding in 2012.

It is understood that the deliveries have increased since the Prince of Wales moved to Adelaide Cottage on the Windsor Estate.

He was even spotted with a can of its “Return of the King” during the Coronation celebrations last year.

The brewer was granted a prized Royal Warrant by the late Queen and Philip.

He had loved his ale since his days in the Royal Navy.

At the International Brewing and Cider Awards, it won golds for its “Capital” lager, “Knight of the Garter” ale and Belgian-style pale ale “Diablo Rojo”.

It also won a silver and a bronze, making it the world’s most successful brewery in terms of medals.

Production director Paddy Johnson said: “It’s so pleasing to see our beers recognised yet again in such a prestigious competition and winning in this wide variety of classes is testament to the dedication and skill of our brewing team.

“We’re only a small brewery but this again shows that we match the best in the industry, both here in the UK and internationally, which our discerning customers appreciate so much.

“Times are tough in the industry and such endorsements of our quality therefore carry such weight.”
