KATE Garraway has written an emotional message about "new beginnings" as she marks her first Easter without husband Derek Draper.

The Good Morning Britain presenter said she was working instead of taking part in her family's usual bank holiday tradition of Easter egg hunting.

However, Kate had taken her kids Darcey, 18, and Billy, 14, on location to enjoy time together.

Derek tragically died in January after a brave four year battle with coronavirus and its life-changing complications.

Kate wrote on Instagram: "Happy Easter everyone! Usually we have a mega family egg hunt at my Aunty Lynne’s but this year I am actually working - although in a spectacular location & have brought the kids with me so hard to call it 'work'."

Although she didn't reveal what she's filming, Kate showed off images of a gorgeous lunch and easter egg tree from the undisclosed location.

"Very grateful to be able to have this time and sending love to all who are working today in less glamorous locations - keeping the wheels turning for the rest of us.

"Hope you find some joy & new hope today & everyday xxx."

She added the hashtags #hope. #newbeginnings and #love.

In a new ITV documentary, Kate takes viewers through the struggle the couple went through in the months before his death.

Kate is said to be facing huge medical bills of up to £800,000.

In a clip from the heart-wrenching programme, Derek says: "My name's Derek Draper."

With his voice barely above a whisper, he continues: "I want you to hear my story."

Sitting by his bedside, Kate, 56, says: "You've written 'Covid changed everything'. Do you mean that for you?"
