Monopoly has been crowned Britain’s best-loved board game.
An overwhelming 51% of those quizzed ranked the property-collecting game as their all-time favourite.
In second place was Scrabble. The poll also found that, even in an era of video games and social media, board games maintain a strong place in the nation’s affections.
More than half said a board game was their favourite thing to play with family on holiday, compared to just 15% who would pick a games console.
Nine out of 10 of those in the poll by holidaycottages.co.uk agreed there is nothing better than playing a game on a rainy day. And 86% said some of their favourite childhood memories featured playing games with their family. Plus 90% said a family that plays together, stays together.
Man 'stabs neighbour to death' because music was distracting his Scrabble gameA spokesman for the holiday firm said: “Our findings show that one in 20 of us will be digging out a game this Easter break, while over half of us will whip out a game at Christmas.
“By the look of the weather, these games will definitely come in handy over the Easter break as it’s likely that holidaymakers will face April showers at some point in the UK.
“However, while some dislike the rainy weather we believe that it is something that should be embraced.”
