Jim Ratcliffe is already on a first-name basis with all of his Manchester United staff, departing coach Benni McCarthy has revealed.
The INEOS owner agreed a £1.3billion deal to take control of the footballing side of the club in December. He has already attempted to get his feet under the table by getting familiar with staff.
Ratcliffe has been introduced to staff both at Carrington and Old Trafford. Strikers’ coach Benni McCarthy hinted he was taken aback by how knowledgeable the 71-year-old was about the people working for him.
Speaking to 947 Joburg, the former Blackburn star said: "I met him [Ratcliffe] a few times because he's very often at the training ground at Carrington, making waves, getting to know the people that work for the club, trying to help rebuild the club back to where it's supposed to be at the top.
"They are at the club quite a lot. He's a very nice man, he seems to know people by name and that's the very surprising part, you know? You have a conversation and he calls you by your name. I think that's impressive.
World Cup hero wants Man Utd move as doubts over Harry Maguire's future grow"For a billionaire, he doesn't have to bother getting to know my name or any of the staff if you're not the manager but he does know our names and it's quite refreshing. They show that much respect to the staff that work for them and I thought it was a really nice touch. 'Benni, everything okay? How do you find this?' It's just nice."
While Ratcliffe has already gotten familiar with his staff, the INEOS owner has been forced into a few tricky decisions during his time with Man United. He has already called on some to resign should they not want to return to office-based working.

McCarthy himself could also be moved on. The South African’s contract expires this summer and has yet to be offered an extended deal.
He joined the club’s coaching staff in the summer of 2022 and has become popular with players. Asked about his future, McCarthy added: "So my time here, if it is the end, like my contract is coming to an end now in June, and if the club wants me to continue and in the role that I have, I will be grateful and it will be amazing.
“But I would miss having to wait another year or two years, however long it would be that the club would want me to stay."
McCarthy has yet to reveal where he could go next but did hint he would be open to taking the reins with South African giants Kaizer Chiefs.
