Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford's divorce has turned nasty after the couple have started to address how they'll split their finances.

The couple, who have been together for 27 years and married for 14, announced they were divorcing earlier this week, after being seen as one of the most solid couples in showbiz. But now money has come into it, and it seems like things are starting to sour already, with friends of Eamonn chiming in with their opinions.

The two 64-year-olds hadn't been pictured together for months, causing suspicion among fans that things had gone south for the couple, despite them remaining positive in interviews about each other.

When reports of explosive rows emerged, and Ruth's admission that her husbands ill health was "testing" for the family, rumours of their split began.

And now it's been confirmed, things are likely to get worse before they get better, with a one of Eamonn's pals telling the Mail : "It could get nasty. To think that they would go from appearing so happy on TV, to potentially going to war over money is not what their viewers expected. He made her. Would she be earning the huge amount of money she does if they had never met? No." They added that this should be taken in to consideration when money is divided in the divorce.

Back in 2022, Ruth revealed to the Loose Women girls that she actively gives Eamonn the silent treatment if they've argued. Discussing whether couples should sleep after a row, Ruth said: "The thing is, you know Eamonn and I, I just think that what some people call a row, I just call a disagreement or I don't have the same opinion as you.

"Sometimes we would never resolve it, so we're not that couple that go, 'I think we need to talk about this,' because I would still think that I was right about something. Genuinely, that's my opinion and it's just not your opinion and we'd end up arguing."

Ruth added:"We have times where we would then ignore each other for the day, as in during the day. I'd just avoid him and think, 'He's getting on my nerves,' but then the minutiae of life happen, don't they? So when Jack was living at home, somebody would have to go, 'Who is driving Jack to go hockey?' There's a point where you have to have a conversation and it kind of goes away."

Ruth and Eamonn cemented themselves as a presenting powerhouse with their slot on This Morning at the end of 2006, but before that, they had both bagged high profile jobs in their own right.

After meeting in 1997, Eamonn was the high-profile anchor of ITV's breakfast show, GMTV. Although ruth was presenting regional news in Plymouth, she soon joined talent agency YMU - which represents Ant & Dec and Claudia Winkleman. She went on to join Loose Women in 1999, where she still works, before becoming a double act with Eamonn seven years later.
