A convicted rapist operates a party bus ferrying women to nightclubs and hen dos.

Jason Robert, 38, earns a living taking girls on drunken nights out. And unsuspecting revellers leave glowing reviews urging others to book his tours. Little do they know Robert served six years in jail for raping a 20-year-old woman.

Basildon Crown Court in Essex heard how he plied the victim with booze at a house party before taking her upstairs and raping her. And he was found guilty of groping another woman, 21, at the same gathering in 2011.

Last night one horrified passenger said: “It’s absolutely disgusting that he is able to have a company driving around girls who will clearly be easy to take advantage of.”

Operating under the name Bass Bus UK, Robert specialises in Essex-to-London club tours and school prom transport for teens.

A blurb on the website boasts: “We have become established as the popular choice and go-to company for party bus entertainment. Our nightclub tour redefines the meaning of the word clubbing – our live DJs play some of the best beats to guarantee the party keeps going throughout the night.”

The £40 all-inclusive shindigs include entry to venues and cocktails. Staff, including Robert, accompany guests between clubs before driving them home in the small hours.

Karen Whybro, a women’s safety consultant and violence against women academic, said: “I am absolutely disgusted that someone with a conviction for rape is allowed access to women in situations where they are potentially at their most vulnerable.

“Every woman has the right to feel safe on a night out and I believe this includes being aware that a man who is potentially there to protect us has a previous conviction for such a serious crime.”

Operators of public service vehicles used to carry passengers for hire must have a licence issued by a traffic commissioner. To obtain one, applicants must show they are of good character.

The Traffic Commissioners of Great Britain could not locate a PSV licence under Mr Robert’s name or business address.

Southend-based Robert was asked for comment.
