Real Madrid are preparing to announce the signing of Kylian Mbappe in the coming days.
Having become football's worst-kept secret, Mbappe will sign a lucrative five-year contract with the newly-crowned European champions, who wanted to wait until they finished their stellar 2023-24 season to announce his arrival. Los Blancos beat Borussia Dortmund 2-0 in Saturday's Champions League final at Wembley, having also won the La Liga title last month.
Mbappe, 25, will become the latest superstar to join Carlo Ancelotti's side, two years after U-turning on his decision to sign for Madrid in favour of a new deal with Paris Saint-Germain. His contract expires on June 30, allowing the Frenchman to leave PSG on a free transfer this summer.
His mother, Fayza Lamari, recently admitted that Mbappe will be going "where everybody knows," one of several major hints dropped by key figures in recent months. The Guardian now report that the 25-year-old's arrival should be confirmed early next week, with Madrid hoping for a Monday announcement.
They don't expect Mbappe to be present in the Spanish capital until the mid-duly due to France's Euro 2024 campaign. It's unknown whether or not the forward will go on to represent France at the Paris Olympics later this summer.
Lionel Messi posts emotional message after 'year I will never forget'Ancelotti refused to discussed Mbappe in the wake of Saturday's victory which earned Madrid their 15th European crown. Mbappe has never won the competition, having gone closest in 2020 before PSG lost the final to Bayern Munich.
The ex-Monaco starlet will captain his country at this summer's European Championship in Germany, and on Wednesday boss Didier Deschamps confirmed that he'll 'adapt' to Madrid's announcement. "[The timing] doesn't depend on me," Deschamps explained. "They will decide when it will be time to make it official. As far as possible, I will adapt to the collective and the French team.

"The context in the French team is different, I'm not going to pay more attention to him in relation to that aspect. But I understand that from the outside, the media aspect in relation to [the club's] decisions and the announcement, it takes up a lot of time."
Mbappe had an injury issue during the last few weeks of the season but Deschamps isn't worried, adding in jest: "You don't think he's in good shape... He only scored 44 goals in the season, he could have done better He played in a Coupe de France final, he's active."
France begin their Euro 2024 campaign on Monday, June 17, facing Austria in Dusseldorf before clashes with fellow Group D opponents the Netherlands and Poland.
