Influencer Patsy Field has spoken out about how ITV bosses have adapted the Love Island villa for her disability.
The 29-year-old, who is taking part in the upcoming series of the reality dating show, is the first contestant ever to have Erb's Palsy. The condition means one of her arms is weaker and shorter than the other, which was caused when there were complications during labour.
Patsy's condition means she has to make some changes to the way she lives day to day, but she's got nothing but praise for Love Island producers, who have supported her with adjustments to the villa.
Speaking to The Sun, she explained that she has been through extra discussions with the team, to assess what she needs to make life easier for her, with "no stone unturned".
Patsy said: "There are things that will be interesting I guess, for other people to see on camera that I can't do. I struggle to put my hair up and stuff. But I always just kind of find something to rest my arm on, or I often - you’ll probably see me in there - I’m using my friend's shoulder to put my arm on, so I can lift it up and do my hair."
Bernice Blackstock suffers new blow in Emmerdale as she struggles with illnessPatsy has been open with her followers about her disability, explaining on Instagram how it happened.
She said: "One thing you guys don't know about me is I have a disability," she said. I have never spoken about it on here before because I am a bit self-conscious about it to be honest.
"Pretty much everyone says they don't notice it, or they have never noticed it before but once I tell you go back and look through my old videos, you'll be able to spot it."
Patsy then blamed the hospital for causing her disability, saying: "I was a normal, happy, healthy baby in my mama's womb and the hospital f***ed up and gave me a disability, you f***ers.
"I should have been a Caesarean birth, but the midwife thought she could do it and she couldn't... I was such a big baby, I was almost 11lb, a normal baby is like 7lb. I got stuck coming out of my mum... and they're pulling and pulling and pulling and in the process of yanking me out, they have done some damage.
"They snapped the nerve that sends messages down from my brain down my spine to my right arm, messages are trying to send, and this computer says no."
Love Island 2024 will kick off on June 3 on ITV at 9pm.
