PGA TOUR golfer C.T. Pan picked a random FAN to carry his bag after his regular caddie suffered an injury at the Canadian Open.

Taiwanese star Pan, 32, watched veteran caddie Mike "Fluff" Cowan put himself out of action when he slipped and fell while walking down a hill on the third hole.

Reflecting on the moment, Emerson said: "I helped Fluff get the bib off, threw it on and started walking up the hole."

The unorthodox move is within PGA rules, but still left commentators somewhat surprised.

One of the broadcasters said: "They actually brought in a random person from the gallery."

While another praised Emerson, adding: "What a nice man to help out and what an honour for him as well."

Emerson performed the duties for two holes, before a member of the caddie services team took over on the fifth.

They were then replaced by Paul Barjon’s caddie Al Riddell on the 10th hole.
