Michael van Gerwen and Luke Humphries were left in awe of Luke Littler during his latest Premier League heroics.

The 17-year-old secured yet another success on Thursday evening in Aberdeen. He overcame Rob Cross 6-4 for his fourth night win.

It saw Littler comfortably seal his spot in the playoffs on what has been an impressive debut campaign following his PDC World Championship breakout. And it appears that his peers are now not shocked by his heroics.

During his quarter-final success over Nathan Aspinall, Littler fired home a double 20 to claim a set. Van Gerwen and Humphries were watching the match unfold in the practice room and were full of praise.

Responding to Littler’s shot, the Dutchman said: “What a dart. Under pressure.” Littler’s World Championship final foe Humphries then replied: “He’s so good under pressure.”

Littler continued his brilliant form to hammer Michael Smith in the semi-finals 6-1, before beating Cross in the final. Speaking after that game, he said: “I’m just happy to get another nightly win and happy that my name has a Q next to it and I’m going to the O2. So within the next two weeks, I’ll just relax myself and not put too much pressure on myself.

“It was, I didn’t really know if I won my first game, I’d be through. I just came here wanting to win another night. And if I win one of the next two, I’ve broken another record.”

He added: “I’m happy with the way my darts are going, obviously bringing the Liverpool form into Austria was good. I’ve had a few days off and I’ve recharged and I’ve won again.

“I’ve just settled myself really well. The first few weeks, I was there fourth or fifth and now I’ve been top for quite a few weeks.”

After earning praise from his World Championship opponent Humphries, Littler was asked were the pair ranked in the world rankings. Asked if he was the best player in the world, the 17-year-old replied: "No."

He was then asked whether Humphries was the best, to which he replied: "I don't know, probably." Littler now heads into the final two nights of the Premier League already qualified.

The youngster takes on Peter Wright next week in Leeds, where he will be aiming to make it a hat-trick of wins. He is sure to face severe competition from Humphries who returns to his home city.
