GAMERS are set to get a huge upgrade to a popular free-to-play game, with all new bosses to fight and weapons to play with.

Destiny 2 is going offline ahead of the launch of the new expansion The Final Shape, read on to find out more about how it will affect gamers.

What is Destiny 2: The Final Shape?

The Final Shape is a massive free expansion to the popular video game Destiny 2.

Destiny 2 was originally released in 2017, and its a hugely popular first-person shooter game made by developers, Bungie.

It's available on PS5, PS4, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.

It's also available to PC users through online stores Steam, Microsoft Store and Epic Games Store.

The Final Shape will give gamers all new bosses to fight as well as new missions to complete and brand new weapons to use.

It follows a number of other updates to the game.

Previous expansions include Shadowkeep, Beyond Light, The Witch Queen and Lightfall.

Gamers are warned though that they'll need a huge amount of storage space available for the new update.

Bungie, who are the developers of the game, say they need to take the game offline for maintenance.

During this time, the preload for the new expansion will be made available for all users.

Sign-on and game integration features will be unavailable on web, mobile, third-party apps, and the Bungie Store

When is Destiny 2: The Final Shape going offline?

Destiny 2 will be offline for 25 hours leading up to the launch of The Final Shape.

It will be down from 5pm on Monday, 3rd June 2024.

Developers say it should be back online the following day - at 7pm on Tuesday, 4th June 2024.

The update file was accidentally sent to PS5 users on Sunday, leading to a number of spoilers being released, however developer Bungie "killed" the servers to stop any more secrets getting out.

Gamers will need a hefty amount of storage space free to be able to download the new The Final Shape.

How to play Destiny 2: The Final Shape

Gamers don't have long to wait before they can start playing.

The update is done directly through the console and, once downloaded and installed, it'll be ready to play.

Players can then dive into Destiny 2 to explore the mysteries of the solar system, either alone or by playing online with friends.

There are exciting co-operative missions to take part in, where gamers can work in a team on epic quests.

There's also the opportunity to take part in competitive multiplayer battles, facing off against other players to collect limited-time rewards.
