Britain's Got Talent's Sydnie Christmas had a lot to celebrate on Sunday night after being crowned the winner of the ITV competition.
The singer was given the Golden Buzzer when she auditioned with a gorgeous rendition of the hit song Tomorrow from the musical Annie. Head judge Simon Cowell, who previously despised the song, praised her vocal skills and admitted he became a big fan of the track thanks to her performance.
During the final on Sunday, the singer was crowned the winner and she took home the whopping £250,000 cash prize as well as the chance to perform at the Royal Variety Performance later this year. Following her win, Sydnie and her family kept it simple by celebrating her achievement with drinks at a local Wetherspoons.
Sydnie said on her Instagram Stories: "Thank you everyone who voted for me. I don't know... My life! The Christmas clan are celebrating in the Wetherspoons." She proceeded to pan the camera around to showcase her family cheering her on as they held up their drinks.
The star also posted a picture of herself posing with the BGT judges and hosts Ant and Dec. The singer beamed with joy as she put her arms around Amanda Holden and Declan Donnelly. "Cheers to the best day of my life. Thanks to you lot. I owe it all to yous," she said in the caption of her post.
Wetherspoon announces huge change to drink prices - but it won't last longThe contestant couldn't spend all night celebrating as she had an early appearance on This Morning on Monday. During her chat with Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley, she talked about her celebrations at Spoons. Host Ben said: "You found the closest Spoons you could find!" Sydnie responded: "Yes, we needed a pint and we needed it now!"
Sydnie added it was the closest pub to the Hammersmith Apollo, where the final was held, adding: "I love a Wetherspoons!" Asked what comes next now she's won the show, Sydnie admitted: "Not a clue! That's the exciting bit about it, I'm so ready to just throw myself into whatever opportunity is there for me."
She also discussed what she will be spending her quarter-million cash prize on. She said: "It's not even about the money, this is just amazing" to which host, Ben, pointed out: "Well, you haven't seen it in your bank account yet!" with Sydnie adding: "No, you sort of can't believe it!"
Talking about what she'll spend her cash on, the winner said: "Not a clue!" before adding: "I loved my singing coach on BGT, she was amazing and got me through that. I said to her: 'I can now afford you once a week!' so I said that to her" with Ben asking: "So the first thing is booking a load of lessons?"
To which Sydnie replied: "Yeah, absolutely! She's made me in like two months a better singer than I did when I went to college for three years, she's just amazing and I just love her."
