Katy Perry has been praised after she mocked the controversial comments made by Harrison Butker at a graduation speech, with the Firework hitmaker sharing an edited version of his words on social media.

Harrison, who is known for being a kicker for the Kansas City Chiefs made some recent controversial remarks at Benedictine College. The 28-year-old's speech included comments on LGBT+ Pride Month and US President Joe Biden alongside a remark that women should focus on being "homemakers" instead of pursuing careers.

Taking to Instagram, Katy had a clear goal to empower her more than 200million followers. Sharing an edited version of Harrison's speech, Katy penned: "Fixed this for my girls, my graduates, and my gays - you can do anything, congratulations and happy pride."

The edited speech went: "How many of you are sitting here now, about to cross this stage, and are thinking about all the promotions and titles you’re going to get in your career? I would venture to guess the women here today are going to lead successful careers in the world.

"I say all of this to you because I have seen it first-hand, how much happier someone can be supporting women and not saying that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world."

Fans on social media went wild in support of Katy, with many quick to praise the hitmaker. One person penned on Reddit: "Even better. Katy has the career, looks AND a child alongside her hot spouse. If I were him, I would hide in the corner and wait until people forget about it until I show my face again lmao."

Another gushed: "Using her powers for good!" While a third said: "Ok Katy, this I love," and a fourth penned: "Katy Perry has always been and always will be the queen."

Meanwhile, on X, formerly known as Twitter, one person said: "Katy Perry is a bad ass. This is an absolute masterpiece." Another then added: "Honestly it's how it should have sounded from the beginning." While a third said: "truly iconic pop behavior."
