Luckily, her favorite version of glycolic acid, The Ordinary's $9 Glycolic Acid, is also affordable and cost-efficient.
"I got a bottle from the brand The Ordinary," she said.
"After washing my hair with regular shampoo, I apply some of the liquid onto my scalp, flip my hair over, and massage [it] for a while."
The $9 toner also worked wonders as a body exfoliant.
"The glycolic acid also cleared up the dark bumps on my legs from shaving," she added.
"I read it’s called strawberry legs. I just put some on a cotton pad and rubbed it in."
Former dandruff sufferers seconded The Ordinary toner.
"It worked wonders. I put it on my scalp, then wash my face. After that, I get in the shower and shampoo my hair twice," said one commenter.
"When I first got the toner, I used it every time I washed my hair. Now I just have to use it every so often. Get the toner! You won't regret it."

"Make sure you shampoo your hair twice. The first shampoo round is going to help get rid of the debris," they explained.
"Make sure you're massaging your scalp with the shampoo for a decent amount of time to help get the toner and debris out.
"Then rinse. Shampoo again, and you're good.
"For me, I did notice a small difference on the first use, but I had to use it two or three times in a row before it got to where any dandruff was visible. But it definitely did work."
Skincare enthusiasts warned those using the product to be mindful of one caveat — their increased susceptibility to scalp burning.
"Be careful with acids and being in the sun. They cause an increase in sun sensitivity," one commenter said.
