Baby Reindeer star Richard Gadd, who also created the acclaimed Netflix series which launched last month, is said to have "netted his first million" through a company.
The show follows the character Donny (played by Richard) who is being stalked following an "act of kindness" towards customer Martha (Jessica Gunning) in the pub where he works. The seven-part series, which also explores sexual assault, is understood to be based on comedian Richard's Edinburgh Fringe Festival play of the same name.
Baby Reindeer is currently at the top of the charts in the UK on the streaming platform following its debut three weeks ago and has received much acclaim since then. There's already speculation over whether it will return for a second season, though it's believed to have been a one-off.
It has now been reported that Richard had "already netted his first million" prior to the show's success, as reported by the Sun. It reports that financial documents for his "personal firm" RRSG Ltd. suggest that even before the show was picked up by Netflix he had been "amassing a fortune". It states that RRSG Ltd. had just over £1 million in assets, including £819,959 "cash in the bank".
According to information available through Companies House, Richard is the only officer listed for the business RRSG Ltd., with him credited as the director. The company's profits are said to have more than quadrupled between March 2022 and the same month the following year.

Richard Gadd is best known for his role in the acclaimed series Baby Reindeer, which was released by Netflix just last month (Ed Miller/Netflix)According to accounts released in September last year, the company's retained earnings increased from £178,244 in March 2022 to £836,233 in March the following year. Similarly, shareholders' funds rose from £178,344 to £836,333 over the same period. The latter figures allign with the data for "total assets less current liabities" in the latest accounts.
Companies House also lists Dr Robert Stephenson as being a "matching appointment name" for Richard. He appears to have been registered under that name at some point but the Sun reports that there are no official records of him changing his name. As reported by the outlet, he's believed to first appear as Richard Gadd in Companies House records in 2014, with him listed as company director of a now dissolved firm Little Monkey Productions Limited that year.
Baby Reindeer isn't Richard's only show from the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, as he's also credited with having performed the award-winning projects Monkey See Monkey Do and Breaking Gadd, for example, earlier in his career. Alongside his stand-up comedy career, Richard has also pursued opportunities as an actor and screenwriter. According to IMDb, his other acting credits include BBC Two's Against the Law, BBC Three's Clique and Sky One's Code 404.
Whilst his screenwriting credits are understood to have an episode of Netflix's Sex Education. Richard is said to have also previously written for shows like Channel 4's the Last Leg and Dave's Jon Richardson: Ultimate Worrier.
