Two homes were sprayed with bullets in suspected early morning "targeted attacks," police have said.

Police sealed off two homes in Walsall at about 2:30am today. Officers were first alerted to a home in Bloxwich Road before not notified about a second shooting on nearby Hospital Street. West Midlands Police (WMP) believes the attacked were linked. While no-one was hurt, police have asked anyone with information to come forward.

"We’re investigating after shots were fired at two properties in Walsall overnight. We were called to Hospital Street just before 2.30am where the door and a window was damaged. Fortunately no-one was injured," WMP said in a statement, BirminghamLive reported. "Minutes later we were called to Bloxwich Road where another property had shotgun damage to a window and walls, again no-one was injured. We are currently treating the incidents as linked and we have sealed off both properties for forensic examination."

WMP added: "We’re trawling CCTV in the area to establish any vehicles involved and we’ll have extra officers on patrol to reassure residents. We do believe these were targeted attacks, but we do not underestimate the fear and alarm this will have caused. Please speak to us if you have any concerns and anyone who has information to assist our investigation should contact us via Live Chat on our website or by calling 101 quoting log 260 of 3/5. Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111."

One mother said the shooting left her feeling scared for her children. Nina Patterson told BlackCountryLive: "I only heard bangs as I'm over the bridge but scared for kids these days and it's getting worse. [The] world is going craxy and it's scary for our kids. Even worse with having four lads to grow up yet."
