A man has told how the ‘relentless’ actions of his noisy neighbour have been ‘driving him to distraction’ and he doesn’t know how to cope. After telling how his neighbour leaf blows up to two times a day, he said: “Every single day, my neighbour puts on these ridiculous looking safety goggles and ear plugs to blow leaves for 30 minutes to an hour, sometimes twice per day.”

After sharing he continues in any weather, whether it’s rain, shine, or snow he said on Reddit: “Sometimes he does it when there are no leaves to blow.” He also told how his neighbour had even taken to blowing any leaves into the street rather than clearing them up.

He said: “I once looked at him doing it in his backyard from my upstairs window, and for 10 minutes he was just walking in a circle over and over again while leaf-blowing and smoking a cigarette. There were no leaves.”

And after admitting the stress was: ‘starting to drive me crazy,’ he revealed the noise had become so incessant that sometimes he thought he could hear the leaf blower when it wasn’t even on: “Sometimes I’ll hear him start to rev up his leaf blower in the distance, but then realise it’s just in my head.”

He also revealed that the situation had recently got worse: “Last week, I saw my neighbour in his front yard with his leaf blower and his ridiculous safety goggles and his stupid ear plugs. Except this time, it was different. His five-year-old son was with him, and he had a leaf blower of his very own. He was wearing matching safety gear. His father was teaching him the way. Am I in hell?”

After revealing his on-going pain on Reddit, readers were quick to respond, with many detailing similar ‘home horror’ stories of their own: “People are so weird,” said one. “We have a night mower in my neighbourhood. It is so ridiculous that he has basically become a meme and a laughing stock of the neighbourhood Facebook page.”

Another revealed they had a similar neighbour living behind them: “Same! Everyday – twice a day. But I have a bonus added to it. He lets his little dog yap the entire time while doing so.” One reader suggested noise-cancelling headphones, while another questioned: “Why can’t he play video games like all the other emotionally detached middle-aged men?”

One man asked if he had ever mentioned it to his neighbour, while another said: “I wonder if he just likes the sound. I love the sounds of power tools, lawn equipment, jack hammers, chainsaws etc. Air ratchets are my favourite! I find it soothing (at appropriate hours of course).” “Sounds like it's either just a hobby to spend time outside everyday or some form of OCD.”
