A FORD Capri that was left in "excellent condition for its age" by 23 years of loving care has sold for a bargain price.

The beloved motor has done just 60,000 miles and only went on sale because the owner was forced to part with it.

The lucky driver, from Kenilworth, Warwickshire, informed bidders that this was in fact the third Capri he had owned in a long love affair with the model.

Photos attached to the listing on Car & Classic show the dark blue 1986 Capri in pretty good condition.

There are some minor scrapes on the bumpers and a bit of visible rust.

However, an MOT history check shows a pass in July 2023 with a couple of advisories, mainly to do with a brake hose.

It is taxed until July next year and the MOT is valid until July 27 this year.

Inside, the red herringbone trim and grey upholstery are pristine, while the black leather doors and dashboard have minimal cracking.

In a nice retro touch, there is an FM radio and tape deck in the central console, while the windows are wound up and down using handles on the inside of the doors.

The front seats both fold down to give access to the rear, while the boot is surprisingly spacious.

The listing added that the car was only sold because the owner was forced to part with it because he was "retiring from driving".

In a note on the sale, he said: "Owned for 23 years.

This was my third Capri.

"I'm sad to see It being sold but I have to retire from driving."

Despite the heritage of the model, which can often sell for upwards of £50,000, this Capri was offloaded for a bargain sum.

One lucky soul managed to snap it up back in May for just £5,250.

It comes after a mechanic revealed three easy ways to check if your car has been in a crash before you buy it.

Meanwhile, a classic Aston Martin that was left in a barn for 30 years hit the market for an eye-watering sum.
