Corrie sign Hollywood star in new role - and it’s good news for Summer Spellman

CORONATION Street have signed Robin Morrissey to bring a little Hollywood sparkle to the cobbles.

Robin, who will be playing LA-based Felix, who is set to sweep Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) off her feet.

Felix will make his first appearance later this month, when he accompanies Summer on a surprise visit back home to see her family.

The character is set to appear for a number of episodes as he helps Summer settle back into her life in Weatherfield after studying in LA for the past few months.

She had to make the heartbreaking decision to leave her dad who suffers from motor neurone disease when she moved to America for her studies.

It’s unclear what Felix’s plans are but it seems that he and Summer are loved up.

It was recently teased in some upcoming leaked Corrie spoilers that Summer is set to find love again.

She split from villainous boyfriend Aaron Sandford (James Craven), last year after discovering that he had raped her best friend Amy Barlow.

So fans could be set to watch a sweet romance unfold between Summer and Felix.

Much like his character, Robin has also spent a lot of time in Tinseltown himself after appearing in blockbuster Cloud Atlas.

He starred alongside Tom Hanks, Hugh Grant and Halle Berry in the film - which was his first professional acting job.

Since then he has appeared in a number of TV and film roles throughout his career.

He is perhaps best known to soap fans for his role as Will Hurran, the nephew of established character Jimmi Clay.

Robin’s character had a number of huge storylines during his role on the soap including a storyline in which his character emotionally revealed that he was secretly gay.

Liverpool-born actor Robin has also appeared in both seasons of hit ITV police drama The Tower.

He plays a character named Sgt. Fred Thompson.

His other TV roles include a regular in Award-winning four-part series Apple Tree Yard and Little Crackers.
