Tennis ace Emma Navarro may have bowed out of the French Open sooner than hoped, but she didn't leave empty-handed.

The American pocketed a cool £213,000 after reaching the fourth round at Roland Garros. The 23-year-old was bested by World No.2 Aryna Sabalenka 6-2, 6-3, propelling the Belarusian into a quarter-final clash with Mirra Andreeva.

Despite her early exit, Navarro's story is one that captivates those within the tennis, as she is the daughter billionaire Ben Navarro. The US businessman, who is estimated to be worth a staggering £1.18billion, was in Paris to watch his daughter's performances.

Her father's fortune aside, Emma is carving out her own legacy on the court. Given her career earnings after Roland Garros, she may never need to receive a penny from him.

With the approximate £213,000 prize from the French Open, Navarro's total haul for the year now teeters around the £1.2m mark. Given that her entire career winnings stand at an estimated £1.4m, 2024 has been a particularly lucrative year for the American player, reports the Express.

However, Sabalenka proved to be one step too far at Court Philippe-Chatrier. While she did not win a place in the quarter-finals, she did earn Sabalenka's respect. The former World No.1 said: "I played a really tough battle against her at Indian Wells, was really tough match, was going here today ready to fight for every point.

"It was really full on rallies I knew I would have to work really hard to get this win. I'm happy with the level I played today, she's such a tough opponent."

Navarro doesn't shy away from acknowledging her father's vast wealth. Not only does she benefit from his financial backing, but she also credits her mindset and approach to jhim.

In a chat with Tennis Channel, when quizzed about her dad, she said: "I've got to give a lot of credit to my dad. He's probably the smartest guy I know.

"He's dropped a lot of knowledge and wisdom on my siblings and I over the years. He's taught me a bunch about the perspective I want to take into things, especially on-court stuff."

This March, Navarro hit a career milestone, reaching a singles ranking of No. 20. Before turning pro, she showcased her skills on the college tennis courts at Virginia, where she clinched the NCAA Singles Championship in 2021.

She bagged her first WTA Tour title at the beginning of this year, triumphing at the 2024 Hobart International, where she defeated Elise Mertens 6-1, 4-6, 7-5. Despite an early exit from the French Open singles, she's still in the running in the doubles.

Navarro and her partner, fellow American Diana Schnaider, overcame Monica Niculescu and Cristina Bucsa in the third round 3-6, 6-4, 6-4.
