Lidl shoppers have been raving about a spread which tastes just like a childhood snack.

X (formerly Twitter) user Grace shared their food find where she revealed the crema spalmabile al latte e nocciole spread reminded her of Kinder Buenos. She wrote: "Get your a*** down to Lidl. This is like the inside of a Kinder Bueno." Her now-viral post saw dozens praise the tasty treat.

Its name translated to English means "milk creme spread with hazelnuts" and the product is so delicious, some users tried to stop others from buying it so they could have more for themselves. One person joked: "Don't listen to her. It's poisonous, you'll all die. I'm obviously immune. So for the sake of public safety, I'll have to eat it all."

Meanwhile others were keen to give the spread a try but were concerned about the repercussions. "I need that but fear I would eat the whole jar in one sitting with a spoon if I had it at home," one wrote.

Another joked: "I’m too scared to fall in love with this, only for it to have gone by the time I need to get a refill." Some suggested alternatives to the Lidl product including an M&S version. One shopper feared how easy it was to "demolish" the spread and have since forced themselves to steer clear. "Marks and Spencer’s have a version of it too," they wrote. "I bought it once. Never again. Wayyyyyyy too easy to demolish."

Others came up with inventive ways to use the spread. One suggested using it in their coffee, writing: "Oooh... I know what I'm flavouring my coffees with now!" Another likened it to a "spread of the Gods" and claimed it was "phenomenal stuff."

The spread is only available in store for £1.99 a jar. Renowned chef and cookery instructor Anthony O’Shaughnessy previously expressed their love for the product in a post on social media. He wrote: "Lidl are having their Italian week and they’re stocking this: hazelnut milk spread. It’s divine. Like the inside of a Kinder Bueno. Stirred it up good with my morning oats."
