A curious photo from the 1940s has sparked a frenzy among time travel enthusiasts after an 'out of place man' was spotted.

The vintage photograph captures hundreds of Brits taking a break from the turmoil of World War II, basking on a beach trip. However, one sunbather seems to be a visitor from another time.

The picture, taken at a beach in Cornwall during September 1943, shows families enjoying the seaside, but amidst the crowd, there's someone who doesn't quite fit in. A man dressed in a brown suit stands out as he gazes into what looks like a modern smartphone, something completely alien to the 1940s setting.

This peculiar sight has sparked heated discussions online, with some netizens dubbing him the "texting time traveller" after it seemed he was engrossed in the device, reports Edinburgh Live. However, skeptics have dismissed the idea as 'ridiculous', suggesting the man was simply rolling a cigarette.

Debate rages on social media, with some convinced that the snapshot from Towan Beach in Newquay is undeniable proof of time travel's existence. One observer remarked: "Er...is it just me or is this guy checking his phone.....in the 1940s? ".

Another chimed in, noting the evolution of beach attire: "Shows how much beachwear has changed! Jacket, tie and hat? Mind they did that when I was a kid in the 50s." And yet another pointed out: "Good catch. It's clearly the man in the shot is a time travelling tourist checking his mobile device. Finally the evidence we need that time travel is real." However, one sceptic dismissed the theory, stating: "I think that chap is rolling a cigarette! ".

Other historical images have also sparked debate among those who believe in time travel. The Mirror recently reported on footage from 1938 which some commentators claimed offered 'proof' of time travel.

The video shows a crowd of people walking towards the camera, with one young woman appearing to hold something to her ear. Conspiracy theorists suggested that the woman was caught on film talking on a mobile phone, long before such technology existed.

The woman can be seen chatting as she walks among the crowd, holding the device to her ear with one hand. She then lowers it before the clip ends. As the stylishly dressed woman lowers the object from her ear, it appears to be a dark, hand-sized item - similar in size to a modern mobile phone.

The mystery deepened when a YouTuber claimed that the woman in the footage was their great-grandmother, and she was actually using a mobile phone. According to YouTube user Planetcheck, the device was an experimental wireless phone developed by industrial giant Dupont at their factory in Leominster, Massachusetts.
