SPRINGWATCH viewers were recently left amazed as Megan McCubbin managed to power through an episode despite being ferociously attacked by insects.

Chris Packham's conservationist daughter presented a segment about Scottish wildlife from Loch Lomond on Tuesday night.

She started off by providing some information about The Trossachs National Park, which encompasses a series of lakes and hills.

Megan then went on to share that it is the natural habitat of pied flycatchers.

However, she could soon be seen grimacing and beating the air as swarms of midges descended on her.

The small flies are common to Scotland and are known for biting people, leaving behind itchy red bumps.

Megan made a valiant effort to continue presenting despite being attacked, but eventually admitted: "Now the midges are becoming a little bit overwhelming, I'm not going to lie to you right now.

"So it's time to move on to a different film."

Long standing show hosts Chris Packham and Michaela Strachan applauded the zoologist for managing to get through the segment despite the disruption.

Michaela shared: "Hats off to you Megs, you are doing a fantastic job just swarmed with those midges."

Stepdad Chris added: "It’s tragic really that Megs has been bitten by so many midges."

Viewers were also impressed, with one exclaiming: "I don’t know how Megan is coping with all those midges while the camera man is covered head to toe!!"

A second chimed in: "Absolute professionalism by Megan with all those midges buzzing about."

A third joked: "Serious kudos to Megan McCubbin re those midges on last night's Springwatch. I'd have been running away screaming."
