THERE'S nothing worse than taking your clothes out of the dryer to find them three times smaller than before.

A woman has revealed the hack she uses to prevent her husband from shrinking their laundry.

Commenting under a Reddit post, user Toots NYC shared the item she swears by when cleaning clothes.

She explained that she purchased bags to organize her household's laundry for her husband.

"I started using net bags to code which clothing can’t be dried so that I could trust my husband to do the laundry," she explained.

"And I found that it makes my life easier when I’m doing it."

She broke down the organizational system she uses to prevent her clothes from shrinking.

"If it’s got a stain I need to be sure it [comes] out before drying, or if it will shrink, I put it in a net bag," she said.

She explained to her fellow Reddit users that "nothing in a net bag goes in the dryer."

A four-pack of mesh laundry bags is available from Amazon for $10.

The Reddit user also shared how the trick helps to prevent lost socks while doing laundry.

"I decided to put things like socks, underwear, and handkerchiefs in a net bag," she said.

"Otherwise they get sucked into the gaskets on the front of my apartment building’s front-load Maytag washer."

She revealed how color co-ordinating the net bags plays a key role in the process.

"Anything in a black net bag does go in the dryer," the social media user explained.

"This turned out to be a little useful because the underwear stays together, it’s easy to fold and socks don’t get lost."

She recommended placing the net bags in the bottom of your laundry hamper.

"Even if you don’t use the third or fourth from your collection on any given day, just put them back in the hamper, because they will 'need' to be washed eventually," she pointed out.

Reddit users shared their thoughts on the laundry hack in the comments section.

"I do most of these too, it is so convenient," wrote one reader.

"Great tips! One thing I do is when washing socks I turn them inside out every other wash," said another person.

"Amazing advice! Thank you very much for sharing," commented a third Redditor.
