“Is he dead? I tried to kill him,” Rhyant allegedly confessed to police as he was being taken into custody. The victim was taken to HCA Florida Aventura Hospital for his injuries.
Two New York cops stabbed during celebrations in Times SquareIt is not known the motive behind the attack but Rhyant’s estranged wife — who has a restraining order against him — lives close by, police said. The attack comes after a toddler who was stabbed in a supermarket car park in Ohio tragically died following the random attack, according to police.
Julian Wood,3, was critically injured and the boy's mother was also stabbed in the incident, which happened outside a Giant Eagle supermarket just after 3pm on Monday, June 3. It is understood that several officers from the North Olmsted division apprehended the suspect while others performed first aid on the victims.
Both the mum and infant were transported to a nearby hospital by paramedics but the child was sadly pronounced dead a short time later. The young boy suffered stab wounds to the back and cheek, police said.
His mother, Margot Wood, survived the attack and has been left with non-life-threatening injuries, police have confirmed. The suspect has been identified as 32-year-old Bionca Ellis from Cleveland, WECT News 6 reports.
Police said she didn't know the victims. Court records reveal that Ellis was charged in 2023 with theft from a Walmart in North Olmsted and was convicted of a reduced charge of unauthorized use of property.
The motive for the attack in the car park is not known. Ellis has been charged with aggravated murder, police said. "Our hearts go out to the two victims of what appears to be a random act of violence," expressed North Olmsted Mayor Nicole Dailey Jones in a statement.
