Strictly star Katya Jones says she worries about finding love and having children as she prepares to turn 35.

The professional dancer was married to fellow cast member Neil Jones for six years. But she has been single for some time and will soon be focused on another show this winter. Asked if she thought about her maternal clock ticking, Katya said: “Yes. Modern females of our age, we can have careers, pursue our passions. Be happy and fulfilled on our own. However, on the other side, it doesn’t stop our maternal clock or our ageing process, unfortunately. So how do you balance those two things?”

The Russian spoke to friend and Olympic snowboarder Aimee Fuller for her Monday Mile podcast while they were on holiday in Australia. As they walked a mile, they also chatted about how female friends support one another. Katya suffered online abuse after she was photographed kissing comic Seann Walsh, her Strictly partner in 2018 who had a girlfriend. The following year she broke up with Neil, who welcomed daughter Havana with Love Island’s Chyna Mills last year.

Katya, who partnered with Casualty’s Nigel Harman on Strictly last year, said she no longer worries about trolls and spends a lot of the time away from social media. She added: “I have totally learned to disconnect from it. What matters to me is us walking right now, you knowing who I am. My family knowing and loving me for who I am. But would I like to add value to the world? Yes. And I already do it in some ways. I think I make people happy because that’s what Strictly does.”
