Liverpool starlet Mateusz Musialowski has been confirmed to be departing the club at the end of his contract this summer.
The Poland youth international made his first senior appearance for the Reds in March, as a substitute against Sparta Prague, after arriving at the club in 2020. Musialowski is one of 10 players to leave the club next month, with Joel Matip and Thiago Alcantara also going on to pastures new.
Musialowski was once dubbed 'the Polish Messi' and was signed from SMS Lodz, where he scored 133 goals in 88 games at youth level. The 20-year-old arrived with a burgeoning reputation and it was suggested the Merseyside team parted ways with a six-figure sum.
The youngster's phenomenal goal-record in combination with his low centre of gravity and intricate dribbles saw comparisons to Argentina legend Lionel Messi. Capped five times for Poland's under-21 side, Musialowski has spent his entire Liverpool career at the club and represented both the under-18 and under-21 sides.
Musialowski featured 14 times for Liverpool's youth team in 2023/24 and scored six goals and made two assists. While opportunities were hard to come by in the first team, it did not stop transfer speculation arriving for the youngster.
Jurgen Klopp's approach with Robert Lewandowski bodes well for Darwin NunezThe forward was set to move to TSV Hartberg before a deal fell through and decided not to move to Birmingham City as recently as January. Leeds United were also linked with a transfer. The players agents noted earlier this year that there is a great deal of interest in his client. Particularly from his homeland.
Agent Cezary Kucharski said: "We signed a contract with the condition that I would not persuade him to return to Poland. I don’t want to persuade him to return to Poland, but he has the most offers from his homeland. Most clubs want him. I think it should go to the Netherlands, Belgium, or maybe Switzerland."
Liverpool remain in negotiations to extend the deals of some out-of-contract prospects. Academy stoppers Jacob Poytress and Reece Trueman have been offered deals in addition to veteran goalkeeper Adrian.
