Kelly Osbourne admitted she has "pickled" her body after years of drug and alcohol addiction.
The 39-year-old has been open in the past about her issues over the years, and once revealed she became addicted to opioids after being prescribed painkillers following an operation when she was just 13. However, during an episode of The Osbournes Podcast, Kelly joked that she believes she’s protected from developing cancer or other health conditions after “embalming” her body with booze and drugs since she was a teenager.
“I’m hoping that I’ve embalmed myself so I don’t ever get cancer. I’m pickled from all the drugs and alcohol, for sure,” she stated, prompting her stunned brother Jack Osbourne to interject: “I don’t think it works that way. But I’m no doctor.” The siblings were discussing their mother Sharon Osbourne, who was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2002, and had a double mastectomy in 2012 to reduce her chance of getting cancer again.

Kelly made the startling confession during an episode of her family's podcast (The Osbournes Podcast)“Apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree,” Kelly added. The family’s special guests on the show Dr. Greg also had his say on Kelly’s wild theory, as he sarcastically added: “I, for one, have never heard of substances you put into your body causing ill effects of any kind.”

The reality star, who is mum to son Sidney, has been brutally honest about her relationship with drugs and alcohol, and in 2021, she revealed her addiction began when she was a teenager following an operation on her tonsils. “I kept getting sick and I had a really bad case of tonsillitis, they ended up having to give me some crazy surgery, and then after that, they gave me Vicodin,” she said during an episode of Red Table Talk with Jada Pinkett Smith. “And that was all I needed.”
Kelly has been open about her addiction (The Osbournes Podcast)The former Fashion Police panellist explained that her past issues with self confidence were “silenced” when she began taking painkillers, and her addiction worsened as her confidence grew and she started dabbling in heroin. “I went from having every voice in my head being like, 'You're fat, you're ugly, you're not good enough, no one likes you, you don't deserve this, people only like you because of who your parents are.' And then all of a sudden, every single voice was silenced and it felt like life gave me a hug,” she recalled.
“I was like, 'Why am I so confident in all of this?' And then very quickly I went from Vicodin to Percocet, from Percocet to heroin eventually, because it was cheaper,” Kelly candidly admitted. The mother-of-one has previously confessed she relapsed after almost four years sober, and explained her addiction was something she would fight for the rest of her life. “It's never going to be easy,” she told Extra.
