Sarah Ferguson says she's "very comfortable" living in Prince Andrew's crumbling lodge - even though her former brother-in-law wants them out.
Flame-haired Fergie, 64, who was married to Andrew, also 64, for 10 years before their divorce in 1996, resides in the £30 million property in Berkshire with her ex-husband, who is said to be costing King Charles a whopping £3 million in security fees.
Prince Andrew is believed to have a long lease on the Royal Lodge, but is now reportedly locked in a row with his older brother over his future there and its upkeep. As Charles is in charge of the finances for the royal households, he could feasibly restrict the funds - meaning Prince Andrew may struggle with the upkeep costs of the pricey pad.
Discussing the furore on Good Morning Britain today, Fergie, who was diagnosed with skin cancer this year after facing breast cancer last summer, wouldn't be drawn on the drama. However, she did acknowledge how lucky she was to still be living in the lodge. Speaking to host, Martin Lewis, she said: "I'm a guest, for a start. I'm a very lucky guest and a very comfortable guest. Thank you very much." She later added that she "let the brothers discuss it between themselves" and did not want to get involved.
A "feud" between the siblings is said to be boiling over as Charles is reportedly urging his brother to take up a new property rather than the Grade II-listed home, which has a huge 30 rooms in total and costs a lot to maintain.
Meghan Markle 'to unleash her own memoirs' as Prince Harry's drops next weekThe monarch is said to be keen for Andrew to move into Frogmore Cottage, which was previously the home of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle - before they hightailed it to the United States. Not only would the move reduce the security costs - as it is within Windsor Castle's security cordon - the house is also in a better state after its huge renovation a few years ago.
A royal source had previously told The Times: "The King's kindness is not without limit and there is a very good option for Andrew to move into Frogmore Cottage, recently vacated by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, which also has the benefit of being within the Windsor Castle security cordon hence reducing the need for alternative round-the-clock security for Royal Lodge."
The duke, despite having no formal income, is steadfast in his determination to stay at the Windsor house, with the sources claiming he is willing to maintain the £30million property at “any cost”.
