This utterly gorgeous Bentley Blower is an 85 per cent scale recreation of the famous pre-war racer for a bargain £108,000.

That’s about a 99.5 per cent saving if I’ve got my sums right.

You get the same buzz and adulation from everyone you meet — just not the same fear of pranging it.

OK, cards on the table . . .

This new-old Blower Junior looks exactly like the 1929 “Team 2” car from Bentley’s heritage collection.

You’re a part of street life

It’s just that it is powered by new-fangled electricity, not a supercharged 4½-litre, so the Le Mans 24 Hours race would take all week.

But here’s the rub.

It’ll do up to 65 miles on a charge and 45mph — making it perfect for central London commuting where it is impossible to go any faster.

You’re getting a lot of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang for your buck.

Has it got a roof?

No, mate. That’s what umbrellas are for.

Your passenger sits behind you. Ask them to hold one for you.

It hasn’t got much of a windscreen either. Hence the ski goggles. But that’s part of the magic.

You’re totally exposed. You’re a part of street life.

The controls are easy.

The period-correct suspension is surprisingly comfy.

The Brembo brakes are strong.

This car’s bloody fantastic.

The steering wheel is rope-bound.

The bonnet is fastened with leather straps.

The Union Flags are hand-painted. All details that please.

Approved by Bentley’s top bods

At the front of the car, the “supercharger” houses the charging port for topping up the 11kWh battery. Only the door and badges are normal-sized.

Blower Junior is the first road-legal vehicle from The Little Car Company based in Bicester, Oxfordshire.

Working in close collaboration with the big car company in Crewe, every inch was approved by Bentley’s top bods.

Bentley said: “The result is a vehicle that will have even experts looking twice.”

The first 99 cars are First Edition models painted in Blower Green. Later versions can be any colour you like.

The Little Car Company has previously created junior open-top specials with Bugatti, Aston Martin and Ferrari and is now developing a £42k road-legal Tamiya Wild One MAX, just like your favourite Eighties R/C car.

That’ll be the first small car they’ve made BIGGER.
