CAMPAIGNERS are railing against a “Pride train” which failed to include new colours for trans people.

Rail firm CrossCountry painted it in the rainbow livery in support of the LGBTQ+ community.

But some have complained that it did not adopt the Progress Pride colours which also represent marginalised and transsexual people.

London North Eastern Railways and the Trans Pennine Express do have flags incorporating white, pink, blue, black and brown, as well as the rainbow colours.

Human rights campaigner Peter Tatchell told The Sun: “It is a pity CrossCountry trains did not use the Progress Pride flag, especially given other train companies have done so.

“Pride allies should be inclusive and celebrate all strands of the diverse LGBTQ+ communities.”

Rail expert Chris Howe posted: “Is it just me or is CrossCountry’s Pride train missing trans representation?

“The Progress colours are more up to date.”

However, others dismissed the complaints, with one person writing: “Stop moaning, jog on.”

Wheelchair user Doug Paulley, who has had numerous problems boarding trains, said: “If it was a choice between better access and trainbows, I would go for the former every time.”

CrossCountry said yesterday: “Our Pride liveries were installed within our usual train maintenance regimes.

“We look forward to marking our commitment to diversity with a range of other Pride designs, including the Progress colours, in the near future.”
