Arsenal are having to reflect on another near miss in the Premier League.
A stellar campaign saw the Gunners finish second one more, losing out by just a matter of points. Mikel Arteta was allowed to invest heavily once again and this summer is likely to see a repeat as the north Londoners attempt to rule English football once again.
A prolific forward has been cited as a key addition with Arsenal playing without a recognised 9 in the final weeks of the season, but adding such firepower won't be cheap. There could also be high profile exits with the likes of Aaron Ramsdale keen to find more minutes.
We take a look at the latest rumours coming out of the Emirates.
Newcastle's Alexander Isak has been heavily linked with a move away from St James' Park as he continues to be one of the Premier League's outstanding performers. The Magpies may have to cash in on one of their top players to remain financially compliant.
Premier League odds and betting tipsThe Swede, who was nominated for Player of the Season, has shown no desire to leave though and has spoken out on his future, suggesting he's more than happy in the north east.
“I’m really, really happy at Newcastle. I had my best season of my career. You can’t underestimate that. I love everything about the club, the fans, the city,” he said on international duty. “I don’t really have any thoughts of moving or anything like that. I’m having a great time and I’m very happy with my life.”
Arsenal should target Marcus Rashford and Raphael Varane this summer in a bid to strengthen their squad, according to former defender Bacary Sagna.
The former Gunner believes that the north Londoners should look towards the Manchester United duo - insisting their poor season shouldn't take away from the quality they have. Rashford scored eight goals in 43 outings as United ended up in eighth in the Premier League - their worst-ever finish.
Sagna nevertheless believes Rashford's pace in Arsenal's team would prove to be a huge weapon for Arteta's side. The Frenchman also suggested such a transfer would send a 'statement of ambition'.
Oleksandr Zinchenko could have admirers in Bayern Munich with Vincent Kompany considering making one of his ex-Manchester City team-mates his first signing.
The Ukrainian has just finished his second season at the Emirates but has slipped down the pecking order whilst Arsenal are also considering bringing in a new left-back, which is why Zinchenko has typically played. Bayern are having to make future plans as they gear up for the potential exit of Alphonso Davies, who is being courted by Real Madrid.
Arteta said on Zinchenko several months ago: "He has given us a lot. He's a player with different qualities and an unbelievable courage to play football in any circumstances."
