Chelsea legend John Obi Mikel has made his feelings known on Mykhailo Mudryk and claimed the attacker needs to "get his act right" when it comes to his footballing career.
Blues hero Mikel won the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and Europa League with Chelsea in his 11-year stint at Stamford Bridge. And Mikel has issued a brutal jibe at current player Mudryk, insisting the 23-year-old needs to "get his head right" in order to play and succeed like he did for the club.
In the latest episode of The Obi One podcast, Mikel said that Mudryk should put his appearance to the back of his mind and focus on winning games of football. Mikel said: "Mudryk, he needs to get his head right, he needs to – I was going to swear – he needs to f***ing get his head right because he's such a good player, pace, power, quick and good on the ball.
"But he needs to get his act right, he needs to forget about the whole hair, whatever, the tattoos – no! Play f***ing football and win games."
Co-host Chris McHardy – a renowned sports broadcaster and Scottish podcaster – laughed off the strong statement as he claimed Mikel was going very "old-school" with his claims.
Chelsea make late bid to HIJACK Arsenal's January transfer for Mykhaylo MudrykMcHardy said: "You're sounding old school there John – but, if there's any good barbers out there, we'll put you in touch with Mudryk to cut his hair and we might just see a proper player there next season."
Mudryk joined Chelsea in the January 2023 window from Shakhtar Donetsk on an eight-and-a-half year contract for an initial eye-watering transfer fee of £62million – a deal that could rise to £89million in add-ons. He has since made 46 appearances for the club and has scored just five times since joining last year.
Mudryk's transfer fee to Chelsea was the largest received by Shakhtar in their history. And it also made the former Arsenal target the most expensive Ukrainian footballer.
WARNING: STRONG LANGUAGE IN VIDEO
Chelsea recently announced the appointment of Enzo Maresca who will replace Mauricio Pochettino in the hot seat from July 1. The former Manchester City academy coach will be looking to bring an end to the trophy drought at Chelsea that's now lasted a few years, and Mudryk will be one of many squad players aiming to impress the Italian manager.
