Iskra Lawrence has been encouraging women to embrace their natural bodies for years.
She was one of the first British plus size models to break into the fashion industry, showing people you can be beautiful when you're not a size 0. And ever since she became a mum, the 33-year-old has been encouraging ladies to love their postpartum selves too.
So when Iskra was invited to model swimwear at Miami Swim Week, she didn't hesitate. The Wolverhampton lass proudly showcased her baby bump six months into her pregnancy.
The body positive babe looked gorgeous and happy as she strut her stuff in front of an excited crowd. But when she returned home, negative online comments put a dampener on her day.
While some trolls accused her of being a "bad role model", others branded her "unhealthy" and told her to "cover up". Iskra seemed understandably irritated by the negativity and took to Instagram to hit back.

Iskra looked happy and confident as she strut her stuff on the catwalk (Getty Images for Cupshe)She wrote: "I’m still in disbelief that in 2024 (and with everything going on in the world) that fat shaming a pregnant woman seemed like the best use of your time?"
Iskra also included some of the negative words people said about her. One troll said: "That is not healthy. Sorry." Another argued: "A terrible example to young women." A third commented: "Good grief... put it away... vile."
And a fourth added: "I'm sick to death of this trend of near naked women showcasing their all while in late pregnancy, is nothing sacred any more? I wish they would show decency instead of their stomachs."
While most people would run and hide from the abuse, Iskra refused to let it hold her back. She responded: "I do want to thank these trolls for being so obsessed with me. They made commenting on my big fat pregnant body their biggest priority. So impressive you have nothing more to do, such a surprise."
Sadly, the curvy model faced disgusting comments when she logged in online (Getty Images for Cupshe)Many were proud of Iskra for standing up to online bullies – and took to the comments section to praise her. One wrote: "Thanks for being yourself and not letting them get you down! These runway pics make me feel good about myself!"
Another said: "I find these comments not only disturbing because you are so obviously stunning but also because they almost seem to be shaming you more because you’re pregnant which is just scary, people really have lost their way – what happened to mutual kindness and respect?"
And a third added: "Remember people who make fun of people online are just miserable with their own lives…"
