Her first trick might sound simple, but forgetting to do so can cause further damage down the line.
So, always remember to detangle your hair before washing it.
I was left with green Asda logo printed on my head in hair dye disasterAnabel suggested doing this with a wide tooth comb, or even your regular hair brush, and brushing gently from your ends upwards.
Next, make sure your hair is soaked right through before applying any products.
"The wetter your hair is the less product you'll have to use," the pro explained.
Once your hair is drenched, the key to applying your shampoo like a pro is to lather it in your hands before gently rubbing it into the top of your head and mid-lengths of your locks.
Anabel notes that she then takes this a step further and applies a second application of shampoo before massaging her scalp from underneath her hair.
"You want to get your fingers under your hair so they're properly touching your scalp," she said.
Don't forget the sides of your head, your hairline and the nape of your neck during this process either.
You shouldn't ever rub your hair together or pile it up on your head when washing, since the true aim of shampooing is simply to cleanse your scalp, she explained.
Instead, squeeze the lengths of your hair "until the water runs clear."
The next step to flawless locks is to apply conditioner and work it through your strands using your fingers as a comb.
I'm a hairstylist and there are three looks you should avoid if you're over 40Once all the big tangles are out, go in with a wide tooth comb in the shower to get your hair as smooth as possible, the hair guru explained.
Don't bring the conditioner any higher than your mid-lengths either, she added.
"The aim is to have any tangles removed when you get out of the shower so your hair feels silky before you're towel drying it," Anabel said.
A microfibre towel is preferable, but whichever sort you use make sure to never rub and instead "gently squeeze."
Fellow hair fans loved the simple tricks and tips and couldn't wait to try them out on their next hair wash day.
