Sam Thompson says he’s got a taste for the footballer life as he lines up for Soccer Aid.

King of the Jungle Sam, 31, joins England for the charity match on Sunday in aid of UNICEF. He’s been squaring up against his I’m A Celebrity pal and boxer Tony Bellew on the pitch.

“I really feel like a footballer,” he beamed. “I am scoring a lot past Tony at the moment. “It's like a first day at school, isn't it? I don't want people to find me annoying, because a lot of people do find me annoying!” One person he is actively trying to annoy is rival Roman Kemp - who is on the world team.

“I’m trying to get in Roman's head,” he admitted. “Just, you know, give him a little chat. Under the breath every now and then, saying ‘You're gonna miss that’. He’s doing the same to me."

A host of celebrities and former professional footballers will take part in the annual charity match at Chelsea's Stamford Bridge on Sunday, with England playing the Rest of the World team. Lacing up their boots again this year are team favourites Usain Bolt, Sir Mo Farah, Roman Kemp, Martin Compston and Steven Bartlett joining footballing legends Jermain Defoe, Jill Scott, David James, Gary Cahill, Joe Cole and Karen Carney.

New signings for this summer include cricketer Stuart Broad, Strictly Come Dancing star Bobby Brazier and footballing legend and former Chelsea icon, Eden Hazard. Frank Lampard joins Harry Redknapp and Robbie Williams as England manager. Facing them down will be Mauricio Pochettino, returning as manager for Soccer Aid World XI.

They’re hoping to hit £100million in fundraising for UNICEF - which works in the world's toughest places to reach the most disadvantaged children. Sam - who rose to fame on reality show Made In Chelsea - said the celebrities watched heartbreaking films about the charity’s projects, leaving many in tears.

“Everyone was watching the film. They sent Tom Grennan out, Jill Scott out. It just makes you think, I need to do a lot more. I just don't do enough, if I'm completely honest with myself. Some people are just so unlucky. It’s not their fault. They're born into a completely different set of circumstances on a different side of the planet. And when you watch those films, Tom's was so powerful. It makes me even more grateful. It would just be the icing on the cake to manage to hit that £100million after Sunday.”

Soccer Aid for UNICEF is on Sunday from 6.00pm on ITV1, STV and ITVX.
