Comedian Rosie Jones revealed she had to get therapy after disgusting trolls targeted her over her participation in Channel 4's Taskmaster.

The new line-up for the panel game show was recently announced, with the likes of Rosie, Emma Sidi, Jack Dee, Babatunde Aléshé and Andy Zaltzman joining the series. Unfortunately, not long after the line-up was announced, Rosie received hateful and ableist comments from trolls.

Rosie, 33, who has cerebral palsy, told fans how trolls sent her messages on Instagram after the line-up was revealed. One person accused her of 'ruining' the show. They told her: "Thanks for ruining Taskmaster for us! Never missed a season, I will be now. On the plus side, you're guaranteed to win it as it's the PC thing to do. Roll on season 19."

She shared the screenshot of his abhorrent message at the time and captioned the Instagram Story: "Everyone feel sorry for Bradley, who is going to miss one of the best series. Cute that he thinks he knows who is going to win though."

The Taskmaster social media pages also received vile comments over her participation in the comedy series. She explained to Grace Neutral in the Under Your Skin series: "More recently it is hard, it is s**t at times. I wake up some days and I think it would be so much easier if I wasn’t disabled, so don’t look at me and go 'She’s happy all the time' because it takes a lot for me to keep on top of my own mental health."

'I wed hypnotist who took me back to 15th century and I realised he's dream man''I wed hypnotist who took me back to 15th century and I realised he's dream man'

The star went on to explain that she sought therapy after meeting up with one of the trolls during the filming of her documentary Rosie Jones: Am I A R****d? The star added: "Doing that documentary took a toll on my mental health and I started therapy because of it, which I am so happy about.

"Financially it can be a problem, but I would say to anybody who can afford therapy to do it because your brain is the most important part of you and you don’t need to wait until you’re at rock bottom to check in on yourself. I even had a guy saying to me 'What? You’re in therapy? You seem so happy?' And I’m like, it’s not about whether I’m crying in the street, also you don’t know what’s going on in my head but at the moment it is maintenance making sure that I approach my job and life and relationships as the best possible version of myself and I can do that because I’m in therapy."
